Mount Union Yard Culvert

Mile Mark: 0.80
Elevation: 575'
Date Built: 1915
Published Photos: EBT 166

This 20' high poured concrete arch was constructed when the main line between what is now the central Mount Union Yard and Allenport was realigned to this route in 1915-17.

The arch spans Hill Valley Creek and is of a similar design to the Shade Gap Culvert.

The culvert is intact and still carries the yard throat. The 1998 construction of the 522 bypass passed very close to the culvert, crossing the creek on its own bridge. The Mount Union Connecting Railroad is clearing and rehabilitating the main over the culvert making it the first EBT 'bridge' returned to service after 40 years.
