This frame open sided shed was built between 1904 and 1911 to replace a similar but smaller lumber shed situated in the open area now surrounded by the Carpentry Shop, The Boiler Shop and the Service Bays. That one in turn had replaced two small lumber sheds near the same site.
The shed is used to store supplies of lumber and various other railway parts and pieces out of the weather. It is situated next to the Carpentry Shop where much of the lumber was used.
