As the Transverse Pit and Jack was used to remove wheelsets from locomotives, the wheel sets were rolled betweent he Locomotive Shop tracks to the Machine Shop. Located just before the Locomotive Wheel Lathe, the wheelset turntable allowed the wheelset to be turned around 180 degrees as needed for the maching process.
