Mine No. 9 was operated on the Fulton seam 1917-54 and 1957-68 and produced 5,917,776 tons for all companies that operated it. The mine was operated from this head and tipple until 1943, when a new opening and tipple were opened further south. This old tipple became the loading point for strip mine No. 10.
The only remains of the mine at this site are the boney piles and the powder house. The site is on posted private property.
