Outisde the Coal Bin on track zero, a small concrete pit strattle the track. This coal dump was used to unload coal from EBT hoppers destined for the shops boilers. From inside the pit a conveyor passed diagonally up and, into the coal bin, and dumped from inside the building's coupala. The conveyor was powerd by the overhead belt system.
In the late 70's or early 80's as the the roof and coupala on the Coal Bin deteriorated, the railroad removed the conveyor and the coupala and reroofed the coal bin without them. The conveyour entrace into the bin on the east side was boarded over and the pit filled in. Althoug the coupala is gone, the conveyor was stored elsewhere in the shops.
When FEBT restored the Coal Bin in 2005-2006 the manpower was not available to reinstall the conveyor or the coupala as other projects desperately needed attention first. It is hoped that one day both can be reinstalled on the building and the top mechanism for the conveyor has been located so far.
