"Speeders" are small self-propelled rail cars, used by railroad employees to inspect or maintain the tracks. They replaced handcars and could hold four to eight persons.
This unit a Fairmont Model S-2. The unit has a steel frame. It was purchased with the optional wind screen and roof options and apparently the EBT shop fabricated side panels and doors for the it. In the 1990s it was stored in the leanto addition to the Electrical Shop, the normal home of M-3 (which was stored in the Paint Shop until its 2006 restoration). Starting in 2006 this Fairmont was stored elsewhere on the property where space could be found, often in the Car Barn One.
The unit's name stems from it's silver skin and cube shape, giving it a similar appearce to a block of ice. This is the only piece of EBT stock to sport the oval East Broad Top herald.
