"Speeders" are small self-propelled rail cars, used by railroad employees to inspect or maintain the tracks. They replaced handcars and could hold four to eight persons.
This is one of two dilapidated speeder cars stored for many years at the west end of the Boiler Shop in Rockhill. The wood frame car wears an old weathered red paint job. The engine is partially disassembled and was a parts donor for the The Fairbanks speeder. It has since be relocated to an unknown locaion at the railroad. The engine is believed to be a Fairmont. Little else is known about this car.
