This crane is described as a Marion, made by the Marion Steam Shovel Copany, later Marion Power Shovel Company. Records have not surfaced with any data on this unit and it only appears in a few photos that do not show its details. Based on its size and proportion, it is likely a Model 21, 28, or 31. These models were self propelled, could be on road wheels, flanged railroad wheels or tracks, and be in a shovel or crane configuration. This one was a crane on railroad wheels. It is usually seen with a clamshell bucket which indicates it was maily used for material handling. Loading coal from the storage yard was a duty mentioned in the book East Broad Top by Rainy and Kyper.
